Thom Townsend is Executive Director and chief strategist of Open Ownership, an international organization helping governments and institutions create and use transparent, reliable information about who ultimately owns and controls companies.
Before joining Open Ownership, Thom served as Head of Data Policy for the United Kingdom government. In that role, he led major open-data initiatives and helped coordinate the open-contracting commitments announced at the 2016 London Anti-Corruption Summit, work that contributed to the creation of Open Ownership. His career has focused on transparency, public-sector innovation, and using data to strengthen accountability.
